Our 3D printing service allows cardholders to submit a digital computer file for a 3D object to be printed. 3D printing is available to Algonquin and non-Algonquin cardholders in good standing.

Requirements

  • Maximum print time per file is 8 hours
  • Maximum print weight per file is 100 grams
  • Print dimensions must be less than 8 inches long, 9 inches wide, and 5.5 inches tall
  • Print file must be .stl format

Things to Remember

  • Printing is done by Library staff and processed in the order the submissions are received
  • Library staff do not design prints for patrons but staff may assist with design software during scheduled 1 on 1 appointments
  • Printing designs are not guaranteed to come out as intended and can be affected by any number of variables. The Library does not refund printing fees for completed items which do not come out as intended
  • Print jobs not picked up within 30 days will be discarded and the charge will remain on the library card used to submit the design
  • We will make every effort to meet requested deadlines, but completion dates are not guaranteed
  • The Library reserves the right to refuse any 3D print request

Cost

  • Print jobs up to 30 grams will cost $1. Each additional gram after 30 will cost $.20 per gram. Cost includes material used for any necessary supports to aid in printing
  • The cost for 3D printing merely reflects the price of the material. There is no profit for the library from 3D print jobs
  • We cannot print with filament provided by the user
